Wisdom in a Drop of Rain

The drop of rain falls from the sky and onto the earth. It sinks into the ground and nourishes the tree. It passes through the tree, through its veins, through its cells, giving it life, then leaves as a vapor.
The water vapor rises up to the sky and freezes. It becomes a drop of snow. It falls onto the earth into the soil, it waits for spring and melts, flowing through the ground into the river, from the river into the ocean.
The sun shines and that water warms up, becoming a vapor, rising into the sky and becoming a drop of rain once again.

This is the transformation of life, of dharma, of all things. They change form, appearing, staying, decaying, vanishing. The forms change but the essence is immutable. That drop of water can be defiled by a thousand things, the wastes of the tree, the dirt of the soil, pollution in the sky, the salt of the sea, but as it changes forms it leaves defilement behind and becomes pure once again. It can be consumed, or evaporated, but it is not destroyed, it changes forms countless times, experiences countless things, but for millions and billions of years it will still be water, being soiled and purified over and over again.

As the earth is destroyed that drop of water will no longer exist. Just as it wasn’t really a rain drop, or a snowflake, or a river, it wasn’t really a drop of water, it will break down into atoms, and energy, and transform once again, and flow once again in the realm of space. And when the universe is destroyed it will change again. Never defiled, never destroyed, always flowing and transforming, into realms beyond imagination and conception.

This is the dharma of a drop of rain, the dharma of all things. This is the dharma that can go anywhere, from the heavens to the earth and back again, into space, and beyond the universe. The dharma that be in any place, that can occupy any state, that can be defiled and pure, hot and cold, nourishing and deadly, moving and standing still. This is the dharma that is indestructible, experiencing all states and all positions, but being at all times beyond them. The supreme, the perfect dharma of unassailable wisdom. The truth in all things.
We are the drop of water in the dirt, soiled and confined. That process of finding the river, finding the sea, receiving the sunlight, and becoming light, and pure, finding the sky, doesn’t happen in one moment. It takes time. That drop of water might have many lifetimes before it is released from its form and made new once again, but whatever its outward state, the perfection of its nature never changes.

For us human beings the process of transformation and purification can take many forms and paths. There is one destination and different ways to reach it. And there is one path, that is exceptional, quick, straight, pleasant to walk on, unsurpassable for its effectiveness in transforming and purifying human beings.
This path finds the truth everywhere, the teaching relies on all experience. Thus we can come to see all perception as the path to transforming and purifying ourselves, developing compassion for all beings that are our teachers, and finding hope in all situations that lead to our transfiguration. Isn’t this something good? Something noble? Something excellent? To see the release of suffering everywhere, the path to purification, transformation, and wisdom everywhere, what could surpass it?

There is the formless, and also there is the form. There is an ineffable, ever present reality of inner perfection, and there is an outer world, of words, ideas, experiences. To walk on this path we use the form to reach the formless. Progress is easiest with a guide, someone who has been at your level, and the supreme level, and can help illuminate your journey in between.

World Peace and Health Organization Celebrates World Peace and Health Day

May 16, 2011 - Amsterdam, NY – Today, the World Peace and Health Organization celebrated World Peace and Health Day at its headquarter – Western Shrine - outside of Amsterdam NY. Lining the road to the conference building were the flags representing many nations. People who speak different languages, from all walks of life, gathered together to play gong and drums, and sing songs and dance to welcome the day.

Despite the festive mood, the reason for World Peace and Health Day was to highlight the fact that world is not peaceful, with oppression wars, conflicts and frequent disasters such as earthquake, tsunamis and the most recent nuclear meltdown raging in many places, and it is not healthy, with epidemics of physical and mental diseases plaguing even affluent countries.

Holy Master Ziguang Shang convened the World Peace and Health Day conference to encourage all the leaders of all countries in the world to confront these realities and addressed the cause of war. He said, "Guang Huan Mi Zong is an organization promoting world peace and human health. It provides effective healing through Dharma whenever humans are in need of help." And the Holy Master called on the participation and support from all countries, all ethnic groups, and all religions, in order to "prevent disasters in the world and make it a better place". He mentioned, "Our goal is to avoid or postpone the destructive catastrophes of the earth."

Then the Holy Master gave speech on the power of Guang Huan Mi Zong Maha Meditation Dharma practices, presenting that it can:

•   Improve ability to resist to viruses, bacteria and radiation

•   Promote a decrease in aggression, depression, addiction, and other negative emotions

•   Cleanse chemical, and other forms of pollution in the internal organs

•   Stimulate the human immune system and self-healing mechanisms

•   Provide an increase in physical energy, stamina, and productivity

•   Reduce, relieve, and cure chronic diseases and chronic pain

•   Develop empathy, compassion, self-reflection and understanding of others

•   Increase mental clarity, insight, inspiration, and creativity, and problem solving ability

•   And more!

A representative from Hong Kong believes that the Maha Meditation technique is an economical and effective solution for the health problems threatening to overwhelm the health care systems of even the wealthiest countries. A WPHO volunteer James, head editor of a publishing company in San Francisco, said, "it's a method to promote harmony and peace within individuals, society’s nations, and the whole world." "We work together to make our dreams come true." said Flora, a website engineer from Beijing.

Attaining Peace, Bliss and Energy through Maha Meditation Practice

Dragonfly
April 16th, 2011 was the starting date for the Guang Huan Mi Zong Convention at the Five World Buddhist Temple in Amsterdam New York presented by the Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi. This is my story and will be my true feeling including my doubts.
I started attending the free introductory classes at the Five World Buddhas Temple on December 6th 2010 out of curiosity. After the first class I thought that this is not for me as I assumed it was a healing energy transfer for those with illnesses. Since I had no illness and I felt that I didn’t need this I went home not expecting to come for the second day of class. We did a meditation on the first day asking to be healed from our ailments and because I am blessed to have good health I asked for peace of mind. I went home not expecting to return. The next morning I felt incredibly peaceful and forgot about my prayer. Suddenly I remembered that I prayed for peace of mind. Could I have been granted this wish? I returned on the second day and then attended another three day class along with two Buddhist celebrations ending on January 19th. I felt incredibly rejuvenated after this time with Holy Ziguang Shang Shi and his followers and wanted more but there were no other events until April 16th.  Even though I practiced what I had learned in the introductory class I felt that my energy was slowly returning to where it was before the exposure to the Holy Ziguang Shang Shi. I did keep in touch with the World Peace and Health Organization by editing testimonial letters.
It was a long and difficult winter here in Upstate New York with frequent snowstorm and just gloomy in general. Then I experienced a flood losing my pickup truck and my firewood. I felt that bad luck had returned to me and was losing faith in things spiritual. Then my friends came together to help me, bringing me firewood and removed the huge ice chunks from the private road on which I live. I also had insurance on my pickup truck and received almost as much as I paid for my old truck three years ago. Things seemed to be looking better. Then I had trouble with the new truck that I had purchased and issues with the registration. I was becoming discouraged again. I was feeling defeated.
I received a copy of the introduction to the advanced class on April 16th and right after I read it the registration issue was resolved. I thought things were looking up. Good energy from Amsterdam, no doubt! Then I went to the Guang Huan Mi Zong Convention and I was still wondering if the energy I would receive on these three days would be sustainable or would it wear off like a drug. Sorry to say I was somewhat of a skeptic again.
On the first day the Holy Master told us what we could expect during the next three days. We must get rid of our accumulated “dust” for the Dharma to have a good effect. I wondered if the dust from this life and past lives was just too deep to be washed away. He said that we must save ourselves. It is up to us. The dust is keeping us from receiving from God. Holy Master told us that we will open our third eye so we can see clearly and communicate with him. Our Third eye has been closed due to lack of use and we must let the light in and work on opening this. We will do this through the cultivation of Maha Meditation which means Big Light Meditation. We were then taught this meditation and the mudra that goes with it.
We were told by Ziguang Shang Shi that there are 3 purposes for people coming to Guang Huan Mi Zong. The first is to learn Guang Huan Mi Zong and the benefits we can expect from the practice. The second is, will it solve my problems of bad luck and out of balance Ying to Yang. The third is to learn the Buddhist Dharma and to enhance spirituality. He also said that our destiny will become clear from now on.
At the end of the first day I felt tired and wondered if I would ever feel that wonderful energy feeling like electricity running through my veins like I did in earlier encounters with the Holy Master. I only slept fairly well that night but when I woke up in the morning I had some feeling of “well-being”; that all was “right” in the world. I was wondering what my lesson was to be learned from the so-called bad luck I had experienced in March. That morning I felt as though I knew why all those things had happened. It was a clearing out; a removing of dust; a clearing of past karma perhaps. The flood may have been symbolic of this cleansing we would receive on the second day with the Water Blessing. I was being moved to have faith again to have trust in the Divine to know that all was well and happening not only for my benefit but  indirectly for the benefit of all, as we are all one at the core. I began to see that it was a cleansing to prepare me to receive the dharma from the Holy Master.
On day two we listened to Ziguang Shang Shi’s speech and he taught us the Mercy Dharma and talked about Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. She is equivalent to St. Mary in the Christian religion. She can remove our “dust”. We must be sincere in our practice so that we can build confidence in receiving the Dharma. “Trust” again came to my mind and how I recently had to trust a man who told me something that seemed untrue. I trusted him even though my confidence in him was wavering and then I found out that he was absolutely telling me the truth. It seemed like a miracle.
We went upstairs while singing the Ziguang Shang Shi mantra and prepared to receive the Water Blessing from the Holy Master. Some people were crying as they felt so much love in their heart as the Holy Master washed away accumulated dust, mud and dirt from our Beings. The Holy Master gave us all the Water Blessing and we gathered downstairs for more dharma.
maha meditation classOn the second night I still felt tired but very peaceful and more contented and wondered how the next day’s class would be. I slept much better on the second night and felt ready for this day’s class. We practiced the Maha Meditation again. People were asked to share their experiences at the front of the room. Some people were in tears of gratitude for what they had received. One young woman, whose son has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) said her son was unusually calm after the dharma. Others who had insomnia slept well and another with depression felt peaceful. We were told that the benefits of Guang Huan Mi Zong will only increase with practice. Some people that asked for personal blessing from the Holy Master were granted them. People gathered around him with great joy. Ziguang Shang Shi has a great sense of humor and even though I don’t speak his language I laughed and laughed. We were blessed by his presence. At the end we shared some fruit and had a large group picture with much joy and laughter.
I went home and had a wonderful night sleep. When I woke there was a standing deer right outside my bedroom window. A good sign I thought. It reminded me of the picture of the Buddha and his disciples at Deer Park after his enlightenment. There are deer in the background of that picture. The Holy Master gave me that picture of Sakyamuni Buddha at the January celebration.
The day after the Convention I felt much peace and somewhat more energetic than before. I did the Maha Meditation and went to work. I could feel the energy increasing and by 11:00 AM I wanted to jump up and down. In the afternoon I was singing Ziguang Shang Shi’s mantra and felt full of joy.
I have let a week pass since starting this article to report any changes in my self. Here is what I have observed: My energy level has slowly but steadily increased. I have a wonderful feeling of well being and an excitement toward life. The colors I have been seeing during the Maha Meditation have become more vivid; mostly purple with some gold and occasionally green interspersed with spots of white or pale blue. Animals seem to be attracted to me. I have had deer very close to me on two occasions and have seen a fox and have had many birds landing all around me. I feel like Saint Francis of Assisi sometimes with all the animal activity. They must be attracted to the higher energy that I am experiencing. I just feel great physically, mentally and emotionally. I have been waking at about 3:30 AM for the last few days, getting only about 6 hours of sleep and feel no tiredness.
I do believe that this energy and wonderful feelings of bliss will only increase with practice as long as I do good deeds and keep up the practice. I sincerely thank Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi for his graciousness.
